One suggestion: Remove the word 'ashamed' from the second last line and see how it looks then.
@Hussain: Excellent suggestion. No need to force your own interpretation on the reader. Becomes more open ended that way.
i think i've said to this for most of what i've read of you - short, and holy mother of dear god so sweet.
it's something i've never been able to do, say so much in so little.
but you keep at it,
for the better and the verse.
